WESTON-SUPER-MARE 2 WEYMOUTH 2 LEE Phillips is set to miss three weeks of Weymouth's Nationwide South season after suffering medial ligament damage last night.

The striker collapsed in agony late on during the determined Terras 2-2 draw at Weston-super-Mare.

Steve Claridge's side came back from behind after falling two down early on before securing a deserved point through Chukki Eribenne and a Bradley Thomas own goal.

It was intially feared Phillips may have

broken a leg after falling awkwardly in the Seagulls area late on.

However, tests later revealed the former Plymouth Argyle has sustained medial ligament damage.

And the Terras player-boss, who described the Woodspring Stadium performance as his side's best of the season, admitted he was fretting over Phillips' injury.

Claridge said: "Lee has damaged his medial ligament which is a serious injury.

"It looked pretty bad straight away when Lee went down after stretching for a shot and

inititally I feared the worst I must admit.

Treatment

"We're not entirely sure exactly how long Lee will be out for but it seems like a case of weeks rather than months.

"Obviously that is a blow because Lee is a hard-working player who brings a lot to the side.

"He will have intensive treatment over the next few days which will hopefully do the trick and we'll soon have Lee back and available again."

Claridge said he was delighted with how Weymouth responded after dangerman Marc McGregor and a Nathan Bunce own goal put the hosts into a commanding early lead.

"After going behind, that was probably the best we have played as a team all season," he said.

"After falling two goals down early on, I would have grabbed a point with both hands.

"But after we got back on terms before the break, I really thought we would go on and win it.

"The equaliser came at a great time and after that we controlled play and really looked like winning it.

"In the end I must admit I'm disappointed we haven't come home with three points.

"Overall we've gained four points from the last two away games, when perhaps we did not deserve a win at Margate last weekend, so I guess these things even themselves out.

"I would have settled for four points this time last week and we've now got two home games on the trot to take advantage and kick on.

"We've now only suffered one defeat in seven games which is a good sign and shows we're beginning to play at the level I know we can.

"Some of our passing tonight, particularly in the second half, was really encouraging and positive and the signs look good for the coming weeks."

One of those starring for the Terras was winger Adam Wilde whose tricky play down the left was a constant threat.

"Adam is looking fitter every game and played really well," said Claridge.

"He missed pretty much the entire pre-season but is now starting to show why we spent the money we did on him in the summer.

"In earlier games Adam would be out of gas after about 30 minutes or so and wanting to come off, but he is getting stronger every game which is good news."

n Weymouth under-18s won away at Gloucester City last night 2-0 in the First Preliminary Round of the FA Youth Cup.

Ross Carmichael netted both goals for the young Terras.
