FOUR fishing boats in Lyme Regis harbour were broken into in the early hours of Thursday morning. Ten fishing rods, worth over £100 each were taken from one boat alone. Yesterday, police scenes of crimes offi cers were still assessing the extent of the damage. PC Richard Winwood said it looked as though offenders had walked out to the boats at low tide and entered them by kicking in windows or remov ing rubber seals. Fisherman Harry May, who runs charter trips on his boat the Marie F, said nothing much had been taken from his boat but the episode was a real inconvenience. "They've made a hell of a mess," he said and added that it was serious grounds for CCTV to be installed. PC Winwood said if people ever saw anything suspicious at the Cobb they should call 999 immediately and report it, no matter how insignificant it may seem.
