SEAN O'Driscoll has admitted his hopes of taking a Premiership scalp in the Carling Cup is secondary to Cherries' hopes for the season.

His side travel to Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday on the back of their fine win at Hillsborough on Saturday but with financial uncertainty hanging over the club and the ever-present injury worries, O'Driscoll insists he is more concerned with the Coca-Cola League One campaign.

He told the Daily Echo: "I don't think the Blackburn game is a priority for us - the game on Saturday is more important for us.

"It would have been nice if it had been at home and we had a full squad to choose from but the main thing is that we get through the game without any injuries.

"It doesn't give us very long to recover if we pick up any knocks ahead of the Doncaster game.

"You always hope to get a big club but it would have been nicer for us to get it at home. But it is a chance for some of the players to play at a Premiership ground against some top quality players."

He added: "We don't want to go there and get hammered but we need to look at the bigger picture and the bigger picture is the league."

New Rovers boss Mark Hughes is expected to name a strong line-up as he continues to implement his ideas on his new squad. After their win over Portsmouth in the Premiership on Saturday, Hughes will be keen to build with another victory.

O'Driscoll said: "Mark will either use it to have a look at some of his other players or he may keep the same side that beat Portsmouth on Saturday. We can only do what we do though and I am more concerned about the league."

Cherries have also received permission from Arsenal and Portsmouth that they will be allowed to play their two loan players John Spicer and Eddie Howe.
