HAVEN Wildcats will come face to face with a potential Skybet Elite League champion at Swindon tonight.
The Dorset side take on a Sprockets outfit who include Trevor Harding within their ranks.
On Monday, Harding helped Ipswich Witches reach the play-off semi finals with a 55-39 victory over Eastbourne Eagles at Foxhall. The Suffolk side now meet Wolverhampton in the semi-final with a two-legged clash with Poole Pirates awaiting the winners.
Weymouth boss Brian White said: "Speedway can be a diverse sport as Trevor will prove tonight. One minute you're riding at the highest level live on the television, the next it's the bread and butter of Conference League.
"Riders don't get to ride in Elite League play-off quarter-finals unless they are very talented and so Trevor is certainly one we'll have to watch."
The Sprockets v Wildcats encounter forms the second part of a double header at the Abbey Stadium and follows the Elite League Knockout Cup quarter-final first leg between Swindon Robins and Belle Vue.
That gets underway at 7pm with Wey-mouth expected to take the track at about 9pm.
White explained: "It should be a great night out and I know lots of our supporters are planning to travel.
"Swindon is about the closest thing we have to a local rival and the attraction of two meetings offers fans great value for money."
Aside from Harding, his brother Dan, veteran Malcolm Holloway and Simon Walker, the rest of the Sprockets team is made up of ex-Weymouth stars.
Nathan Irwin joined the Wiltshire club after just one outing for the Wildcats this term and he was followed north by Danny Warwick and Mark Thompson.
"All the boys know each other well and that will add a bit of spice to the meeting," added White. "Unfortunately they are without another ex-Wildcat Chris Johnson, but while he'll be missed, they still have a strong line-up.
"But we proved last weekend that we can travel well with back-to-back wins at King's Lynn and Carmarthen which makes it three away meetings without a defeat.
"There's no reason why we can't extend that record further tonight and I am
confident that's what we'll do."
Sprockets: Holloway, Walker, D Warwick, T Harding, Walker, D Harding, Irwin.
Wildcats: Mason, Simmons, Giffard, Barrett, Courage, Gledhill, Ferguson.
