Dorchester are bringing in extra turnstiles to cope with the crowd expected at the Avenue Stadium for the big FA Cup clash with Weymouth on Saturday week.

And Terras fans will be allocated more space on the segregated terraces than they were when a 4,000-plus gate brought complaints of over-crowding at the Weymouth-designated end during the clubs' last encounter at the county town stadium on New Year's Day.

The Magpies have made the changes after a meeting with the head of Dorchester Police Inspector Les Fry and following advice from the Football Association.

Weymouth's former chairman Ian Ridley was critical of Dorchester's handling of the bumper gate at the New Year's Day derby, but the Magpies chairman said they were confident that, with the measures they were putting into place, they would be able to deal efficiently with the crowd anticipated for the cup clash.

"We have gone through the arrangements very carefully with the police and are following their advice to the letter," said Belt.

"We will be doing what they want by bringing in additional temporary turnstiles at the bypass end of the ground to give us 18 in all. We don't foresee any problems, although car parking could be a bit of a headache so it is up to people to be sensible and get here in plenty of time.

"The police have told us that when our car park is full, they will direct fans to the market car park so people must give themselves time to walk back from there."

He said he would be meeting Weymouth officials this week to give them details of the club's plans for the game.

The main stand will be all-ticket and these will be the only tickets available before the match.

Stand tickets, which are available to personal callers at the Avenue Stadium from today or by post, will cost £9 and there will be no concessions.

The stadium office is open from 9am to 1pm Monday to Saturday and 5pm and 7pm Monday to Friday.

Fans should enclose a SAE together with the full payment and mark the envelope FA Cup

tickets. They should also state which team they support.

Postal applications will be accepted up to first post on Wednesday, September 29.

All tickets will be subject to availability on a first come-first served basis and limited to four per person.

All Dorchester Town patrons have until lunchtime on Monday to buy a ticket and all vice-presidents and season ticket holders have until Monday lunchtime to buy a ticket for their usual seat.

Under FA regulations usual concessions for Junior Magpies and Dorchester Town Youth

players will not be available.

Admission to the terraces will be by cash through the turnstiles on the day with a charge of £8 for adults and £6 for juniors and pensioners.

Extra tea bars are being set up and there will also be a burger bar outside the ground.

* The game will kick-off at 3pm as usual despite rumours that an early start was being

considered.
