RYAN Sullivan was the star of the show as Pirates hammered Eastbourne in the first leg of the Stan the Stalker Trophy at Wimborne Road on September 23.
The Australian ace scorched to 14 points from five rides, his highest return on Poole's track since he joined the club in May.
But young Pole Tomasz Chrzanowski also caught the eye with two great opening rides before his performance tailed away in the latter part of the meeting.
Matej Ferjan (10 paid 12), Bjarne Pedersen (10 paid 11) and Daniel Davidsson (10 paid 11) all grabbed double figure returns as the challenge proved a vital warm-up for RIAS Pirates' Elite League title play-off final against Wolves or Ipswich next month.
Antonio Lindback also caught the eye with two brilliant outings in heats four and 10 before he escaped injury in a bizarre pre-race 13 incident.
The teenage Swede had just ridden around the fourth bend on his way to the tapes when his bike's engine revved up too much and he fell off.
Lindback, who was hit by the bike as it fell to the ground, was clearly in pain for a minute or so.
But, although it was later confirmed he was not seriously hurt, his pride took a big dent as he was then ruled out of the race by referee Graham Reeve under the two-minute rule.
Irony was the Poole man had been the first rider going up to the tapes in the first place.
Sullivan cut across Nicki Pedersen going into the first turn in heat three before stylishly beating the Dane before Chrzanowski shot away from the tapes to impressively win heat four.
All the action was behind the Pole as Lindback dived under Leigh Lanham and Dean Barker on the fourth bend to grab second.
Chrzanowski got out in front of Nicki Pedersen in heat seven but a hard second corner by the Dane meant the Pole had to be content with a second-placed finish.
Lindback produced the highlight of the meeting in heat 10 when he swooped outside Adam Shields on the last bend to snatch a brilliant victory over the Australian.
Nicki Pedersen (17) and Shields (13) led the Eagles' charge and the Dane's win, along with Davey Watt's third place, earned their only heat triumph in the last race.
It means Pirates take a 21-point lead to Arlington for the second leg on Saturday.
