KARL Broadhurst received the League Managers Association's 'Performance of the Week' award on behalf of his team-mates and spoke of his pride at leading the side to such a famous result.

Wednesday's night dramatic penalty shoot-out triumph over Premiership Blackburn in the second round of the Carling Cup earned Sean O'Driscoll's side the nod from an LMA panel including Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson.

There was also a special mention for today's opponents at the Fitness First Stadium Doncaster Rovers (3pm kick-off), who knocked Championship high fliers Ipswich out of the same competition on Tuesday.

But Broadhurst, who stood in as skipper on the night and grabbed Cherries' second goal at Ewood Park, was presented with the weekly prize in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Friday and revealed how he felt honoured to help make a piece of history.

He said: "I was very proud to have been asked to captain the side. It was a special night that will be talked about for years to come and it will live with me forever.

"Everyone played out of their skin and I was so proud of the effort the lads put in. We showed great character and always thought we could nick a goal.

"Sean told us to go out and show them we could play as they probably weren't expecting a footballing side. They gave us a little bit more time on the ball as that's what they are used too with the Premiership and when we had a chance, we took it."

But after the pleasant distraction of the cup, it is back to the bread-and-butter of the league and the rangy centre-back insists there will be no underestimating their fellow giant-killers at Dean Court today.

Broadhurst added: "Bourne-mouth seems to have been everywhere this week with the Liberal Democrats' conference all over the news and waking up on Thursday with us in the papers.

"But we have to get our heads out of the clouds now. We were talking about Doncaster even before the Blackburn game as we weren't really expected to go there and win. We know they're a good side and it will be a hard game."
