DANI Rodrigues finally got the goal he has been waiting for and vowed: "Now I want more."

The Portuguese striker glanced home his first senior goal for Cherries as he set the ball rolling in Saturday's superb 5-0 rout of Doncaster Rovers.

And after breaking his duck at the sixth attempt, Rodrigues admitted that a weight had now been lifted from his shoulders.

He said: "It was more happiness than relief. But I felt better as soon as I had scored - I felt free. The first one is the most difficult but now I have had a taste of one, I want more.

"I really wanted to score badly. I was in the changing room before the game thinking 'I have to score today' and it happened.

"It has given me real confidence."

Fellow striker James Hayter bagged two to take his season's haul to seven while Eddie Howe and Garreth O'Connor were the other scorers.

Hayter revealed that some work on the training ground had helped his fledgling partnership with Rodrigues to begin to prosper.

He said: "We've worked on a few things in training and have taken that on to the pitch with us. We started together early in the season and then Dani hurt his hamstring. But he has been back for the last few games and we are starting to get an understanding now. It can only improve from here."

After five goals in his first five games, Hayter had not been on the scoresheet for six matches but wasn't overly concerned by his barren run.

He said: "Myself and Dani have not had too many chances so it wasn't worrying us too much. I was pleased to get a couple but it was nice for Dani to get on the scoresheet for the first time. Our attacking play was very good though and we could have had even more."

Hayter also paid tribute to Wade Elliott who created his first goal and Rodrigues' opener with two pinpoint crosses.

Hayter said: "Wade makes a massive difference. He looks to attack people and get the cross in. As a striker, you cannot ask for any more. He set up the first two and it is good to have him back in the team.

Rodrigues added: "Wade's cross was magnificent. I only had to touch it to score."

With Alan Connell and Derek Holmes also putting on pressure for their chance up front and Steve Fletcher on the way back to fitness, Cherries striking options are now improving.

Boss Sean O'Driscoll said: "James and Dani were a bit fresher than the rest of the lads because I brought them off at Blackburn. Derek and Alan did well the other night.

"Dani and James did a lot of hard work on Wednesday night and didn't get many chances but their freshness showed against Doncaster. It was nice for them both to score.
