DORSET'S newest music club follows its successful curtain raiser in the company of one-time local hero Jackie Leven by bringing in another of Britain's most respected singer-song-writers.

Michael Weston King, former leader of alt-country outfit The Good Sons, plays Club Hobo at the Royal Oak in Bere Regis on Wednesday 29 September.

And, as a special bonus, he'll be joined by old friend Jackie Leven who said he enjoyed the Club Hobo experience so much he would return to join Michael's backing band of pedal steel/dobro player Alan Cook, singer/percussionist Lou Dalgleish and multi-instrumentalist Michael Cosgrave.

Having built a solid reputation with The Good Sons, Michael went solo in 2001 and racks up some 150 gigs a year. He's appeared with the likes of Nick Cave, John Cale, Chris Hillman, Guy Clark, Roger McGuinn, Nick Lowe, Townes Van Zandt and Ron Sexsmith.

His recent album, A Decent Man, was produced by Jackie Leven and will no doubt feature prominently on Wednes-day, along with choice cover versions such as the Carter Family's I Can't Feel At Home in This World Anymore.

Although best known for his dark, melancholic songs, Michael breaks the set with eloquently amusing tales.

Tickets are £7 on the door. Info: 01202 314497.
