DORCHESTER skipper Alex Browne will tell team-mate Jamie Brown to "let your football do the talking" ahead of Saturday's FA Cup derby with arch-rivals Weymouth.
Brown was red-carded for bad tackles in both Dr Martens Premier Division games between the two sides last season. His second dismissal followed an incident in which Steve Claridge was also sent off and the Terras boss angrily confronted him as he left the Avenue Stadium.
The pair will meet for the first time since then at the weekend and, in the super-charged atmosphere of the Cup, sparks could well fly again.
But the Magpies captain says he's confident his tough-tackling team-mate will not be drawn into another costly confrontation.
"Jamie's matured a lot since then and I am sure he knows he must keep his discipline for the sake of the team," said Browne.
"I suppose Weymouth may try to wind him up because that's all part of the game, but he has to rise above it and I'll be having a word with him just before we go out to remind
him that he's no good to us in the stands.
"I expect Mark (Morris) will be having a word too and I am sure Jamie will respond in the right way. He's playing really well in midfield at the moment and I think he has learned to make sure he times his tackles better.
"He's an all-action player whose game is to mix it in midfield, but I noticed on Saturday against Eastbourne that there were one or two occasions where I thought he was going to dive in but then he changed his mind.
"Last season he would have gone through with it, been a fraction late and got a yellow card."
And Browne says the team's midfield destroyer could easily go from villain to hero in Saturday's encounter.
"He's been hitting some great shots this season and it wouldn't surprise me at all if pulled it off against Weymouth. He was unlucky not to make it last Saturday against Eastbourne when one of his shots on the turn had goal written all over it until their keeper pulled off a superb save."
