CINEMA buffs are in for a treat when the eighth Purbeck Film Festival takes place, showcasing more than 80 films in various venues across East Dorset during its two-week run.
A total of 86 films are scheduled to be shown, from early Buster Keaton classics such as The Navigator through to more contemporary releases.
Included among the screenings will be Kieslowski's 'red, white and blue' colour trilogy, Before Sunrise, Tim Burton's Big Fish, A Short Film About Killing, Arsenic and Old Lace and Adaptation.
The festival starts on Friday, October 15 with a screening of the popular French-Canadian picture Barbarian Invasions and one of the themes of the programme will be Films on Filming. The actress Virginia McKenna will be at Wareham TIC on Sunday, October 17 to talk about her latest project, What Do You See, and discuss one of her most famous films - A Town Called Alice.
