Councillors have paid tribute to two long serving colleagues by awarding the title of honorary alderman.
Tina Roebuck and Harry Burden were presented with framed scrolls at a meeting of Weymouth and Portland Borough Council.
The council voted unanimously that their dedication to public service should be recognised.
Praising Tina Roebuck for her 20 years of continuous service on the council, Coun Andy Blackwood said: "I know Tina more through reputation than through meeting her personally.
"But for somebody to do this and to keep getting re-elected for so long makes it clear that there were a lot of people out there who supported the work that Tina was doing."
Councillor Brian Ellis said: "First and foremost we are serving the people and that is what Tina Roebuck did for the last 20 years. She has given it her all and I commend the service she's given to the people of this borough."
Coun Burden, who represents the Broadwey ward on Dorset County Council, said he was pleased with the reception the borough council had given him.
Mr Burden served on the borough council for 13 years.
Coun Andy Hutchings praised Mr Burden for being a committed trade unionist and added: "He took up the challenge to make this a better place to live in."
