OFFERING hope to balding disco movers everywhere, the one they call Har Mar Superstar brings his unlikely act to Bournemouth tomorrow when he plays the Old Fire Station.
With new album The Handler installed in the charts, Har Mar has linked up with saucy DJ kittens, the Queenz of Noize, and various hacks from rock bible NME, for the annual NME Club Tour.
Taking inspiration from his love of Prince, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan and Elton John, the Minnesotan launched himself on an unsuspecting world a coupe of years ago.
His blend of racy lyrics,
ludicrous stage shows clad only in spangly underpants and on-the-money disco house beats guaranteed instant cult status long before his self-titled debut album came out in 2002.
It also won him legions of admirers on the UK's indie rock scene whose leading lights adopted him as their very own disco pet.
A four-month residency on the party isle of Ibiza was followed by support tours with the likes of The Strokes.
His latest album, The Handler, received rave reviews across the board on the back of incendiary performances at this Reading and Leeds Festivals.
Tickets: 01202 503888.
