MEMBERS of Dorset's newest Women's Institute were given an insight into life on the front line at their latest meeting.
The Charlton Down WI was formed in July and at its meeting yesterday, soldier and Charlton Down resident James McGhie spoke about how he battled against gangs trafficking women in Kosovo.
Corporal McGhie, who is now based at Bovington, was a members of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards for the tour and explained his role to members of the WI.
Margaret Bax, secretary of Charlton Down WI, said: "He was very informative and answered a lot of questions about what happened to the women being trafficked and what actions were taken when people were caught. It was extremely educational.
"We are now thinking about what we can do to help and support women in this situation in the future."
The Charlton Down WI meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 10.30am in the Herrison Hall. New members are welcome.
