TINY tots from Southwell Preschool opened the refurbished play park at Church Lane, Portland, and celebrated with a swift ride on the rotaweb.
A joint project between Southwell Area Living Together (SALT), Southwell Preschool and Weymouth and Portland Borough Council has taken a year to complete. It was funded at a cost of £30,000 by Living Spaces, Onyx Environmental Trust and the council.
Children were delighted that their suggestions for the park were acted upon and they now have the rotaweb, a slide which is also suitable for disabled youngsters, a three-way rocker, swings and a see-saw, all on a safety surface.
Chairman of SALT Rachel Barton said: "It is a pleasure to see the children having so much enjoyment from the variety of equipment."
Preschool leader Bev Gould was also delighted and she said: "This is such a safe, fun area directly opposite the preschool and parents, staff and children are all thrilled that the children can now enjoy this up-to-date equipment."
