A GENEROUS Daily Echo reader has donated £1,000 to the fight against breast cancer after reading about a fund-raising event in the paper.
The anonymous reader sent the huge sum towards Lauren Gledhill's sponsored swim, to be held later this month in memory of her mum and gran.
"I am so grateful and just want to thank the person who donated the money" said Lauren, 22, of Albion Way, Verwood.
"I am absolutely thrilled to think that people are so caring. I have had a lot of response to the article."
Lauren's mum, Linda Gledhill, died from breast cancer at the age of just 50 in May last year. Her own mother, Ethel Park, had died four days earlier.
Lauren, who has recently graduated with a law degree from Southampton University, is doing a four-hour sponsored swim at the Littledown Centre in Bournemouth on Saturday, October 23. She hopes to complete around 150 lengths between 11am and 3pm.
"It is something I want to do in memory of my mum and my gran," she told the Daily Echo.
"Even if it only helps one person to avoid what we have gone through it will be worth it."
If you want to help, send cheques, payable to Breakthrough Breast Cancer, to Jane Reader, Daily Echo newsroom, Richmond Hill, Bournemouth BH2 6HH.
