RAIDERS who broke into a warehouse and took clothing worth thousands of pounds made their escape in a stolen van.

The gang broke into a yard at Earley & Lock in Albany Road on Wey-mouth's Granby estate before forcing their way into a neighbouring warehouse owned by clothing firm Ocean to Earth.

Billabong, Rip Curl and Quiksilver jackets valued at between £6,000 and £10,000 were stolen.

An M-registration large white Vauxhall van was then taken from the Earley & Lock yard.

PC Brian Puttock of West Weymouth police said: "This was no opportunist theft, it was a tidy break-in that resulted in thousands of pounds-worth of clothing being stolen."

He added: "I'm appealing for information from the public and would particularly like to hear from anyone who is offered jackets at a reduced price.

"I'm also keen to trace the stolen van."

Witnesses and anyone with information about the raid, which happened sometime between Saturday afternoon and Monday should contact PC Puttock on 01305 767474.
