KIND-hearted fund-raisers have been boosting the coffers of Poole Hospital's Wish List campaign with a range of different cash-collecting activities.

More than £50,000 has already been handed over to the hospital's fund-raising team in aid of the Daily Echo-backed project, which is gradually ticking off items which staff feel would make a huge difference to the lives of patients.

And more money is pouring in all the time.

More than £600 has been handed over to the campaign after a range of different fund-raising activities organised by the Haymoor pub in Canford Heath.

Landlady Bonnie Marshall arranged a Harley Davidson day with punters paying to have a ride on a motorbike and a number of other smaller events helped to collect £614.

She also arranged a raffle and expressed thanks to all the shops in Broadstone and Canford Heath which donated prizes for free.

The money will go towards the cancer unit to buy items staff have requested for patients and Bonnie is now busy planning yet more events in aid of the campaign.

Dedicated fund-raiser Tony O'Sullivan, who is deputy head wine waiter at the Haven Hotel, has also given a helping hand to the Wish List.

Tony, whose granddaughter died at Poole Hospital after being born prematurely three years ago, bought a mountain bike with money he collected from a car boot sale. The bike was then donated to the hospital to raffle for the cause.

He is also planning a dinner dance at the hotel during December which he hopes will raise more than £2,000.

Staff at Coles Miller Solicitors will be in the red when they take part in a charity day in aid of the campaign later in the month.

Around 120 staff from the company's offices in Poole, Broadstone and Bournemouth will be donning an item of red clothing and paying £1 each for the privilege.

Any money raised will be matched pound for pound by the firm.

Organiser Hayley Baverstock said: "We did something last year for Breast Cancer Research and this year it was suggested that we keep it local.

"Poole Hospital is just across the road from us. It's just like a dress-down day for people to wear red clothing."
