Youngsters take sporting honour
MEMBERS of Loders Young Players celebrated their sporting successes in the third annual awards ceremony at the village hall.
LYP chairman John Hughes led the event and trophies were presented by Lady Diana Hood.
Coaches Sarah Wrixon (tennis) and Penny Yarnold (swimming) presented other youngsters with medals for their contributions to the club.
The LYP committee gave a special achievement award to Alex Wood, Ashley Parker and Alex Lee for being the first children to compete and represent the club in the LTA National Club League tennis competitions.
Lesley Lee thanked her fellow LYPs committee members for all their invaluable contributions which helped make 2004 another successful year.
Thanks also went to Loders WI for serving refreshments at the event and for providing posies of flowers which were presented to Lady Diana Hood, Mrs Pat Hughes and Mrs Esme Campbell and also the coaches in recognition of their continued help and support.
At a recent fund raising event, a car boot sale raised nearly £400 towards club funds.

Swimming - most improved: Emily Challis; r-up: Alex Lee.
Tennis - most improved: Selena Mansell; r-up: Jasmine Willmore.
