A SIGNED CD by pop star Elton John is the latest piece of memorabilia to be donated to a charity auction.

Organiser of the charity event Julie Croley said she was over the moon that superstar Elton had sent the CD for the event on December 4.

"It's the first time I have written to Elton asking him to make a donation and to receive this is fantastic. I am absolutely delighted.

"I'm hoping one of his fans will come along on the evening and bid for it."

The auction is being held during an evening of entertainment organised by Mrs Croley in aid of Dorchester Opportunity Group, a preschool group for children with special needs.

The evening will be held at the Poet Laureate Pub in Poundbury.

Other lots include a walk-on part in the next Martin Clunes TV show, tea for two at the House of Commons, a two-day break in Devon, one year's membership to Weymouth nightspot Banus and vouchers for a host of restaurants and shops.

Mrs Croley said: "The Dorchester Opportunity Group is a fantastic cause which only receives funding from the National Lottery and Children in Need, so clearly every penny helps."
