IN the back streets of Liver-pool, Eve and Eddie Dobson run a small corner pub.
With the onset of the Depres-sion money is in short supply and life becomes a struggle to survive.
Their three daughters are no trouble and are leading their own separate lives but still live at home. The barmaid they can barely afford is making passes at Eddie which he finds hard to resist.
When Eddie's flirtation takes an unexpected turn Eve is left to take over the pub.
Eve with the help of a friend runs the pub but when Lily loses her job she tries to find her father and finds out more than she wanted to know.
