CARL Poore spoke of his two months of frustration after coming off the bench to set up
a point-saver as Dorchester emerged from their Grays nightmare to draw 1-1 with Hayes last night.
The former AFC Bournemouth defender, who hasn't started a Nationwide Conference South game since a 4-0 defeat at Havant and Waterlooville in August, provided the cross from which Mark Jermyn headed a close range equaliser then commented: "Hopefully that will win me a start at Eastbourne on Saturday."
He added: "It's been hard having to wait behind Anthony Griffin and it's also been frustrating because I thought I should have had a chance after the last few games.
"But now I'm glad I've taken that chance when it's come along and hopefully helping to make the goal that got us a draw will keep my name in Mark's (Morris) mind for Saturday.
"Mark told me at half-time to get my tackles in and keep
knocking the ball into the channels and that's what I did. I was a bit nervous for the first few minutes but as soon as I got my first tackle in and won a header I was okay."
A popular figure at the Avenue Stadium, Poore - who picked up the sponsor's man of the match award despite only being involved for half the game - said he thought goalscorer Mark Jermyn had an outstanding game.
Nicked
"I'm pleased to get man of the match but I thought Mark also had did very well," he said. "We came back well in the second half and might have nicked it in the end.
"Warren Byerley almost scored the winner with a header from another of my crosses in the last few minutes. Unfortunately he got too much on it when a glance would probably have done the trick."
Morris said he did not think his side had defended well before the break, but the second was a lot better.
"Carl came on and showed that if you attack the ball and win tackles you have a chance, whereas if you keep backing off forwards love it because they don't feel any pressure.
"In the end the result was probably about right."
* Former Terras striker Scott Partridge has booked himself a place at next May's FA Cup Final.
He was voted the Player of the Round after his Third Qualifying Round hat-trick for his current club Bath City against at Brockenhurst and the prize is a VIP trip to the final and a half-time introduction to the crowd at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
