PIRATES captain Magnus Zetterstrom is quietly confident his Poole charges will prove their double doubters wrong on Sunday and cap their season off by retaining the BSPA Knock-Out Cup.
The Dorset side take on Ipswich in the second leg of the final at Wimborne Road and will be hoping to build on their powerful first leg performance, when they slipped to a creditable 48-42 defeat at Foxhall Heath last Thursday.
However, Zetterstrom is quick to remind his team-mates of the threat posed by a strong Witches side, which contains former Poole stars Scott Nicholls and Hans Andersen.
And despite Ipswich suffering 58-34 and 48-33 annihilations on their previous visits to the South Coast this term, the Swedish skipper is certain the Suffolk side will pull out all the stops, as they bid to prevent Pirates from grabbing their second successive clean sweep of top flight honours.
"Certain people at Ipswich say they have a stronger side than we do. But if that's true, how come we won the championship?" said Zetterstom.
"We have already proved certain people wrong by doing that and now we can prove our doubters wrong in the Knock-Out cup as well.
"Witches have got Nicholls, Andersen and Chris Louis, who are all capable of winning races and will be looking to make up for the fact they didn't win the league.
"The great thing about this sport is that you can never tell how a team is going to perform on the day. Antonio Lindback was fantastic at Foxhall, even though he has struggled there in the past. All the youngsters here are still learning but they are getting better meeting by meeting.
"We have been waiting a week and a half for this meeting since we won the Elite League championship and now the time has come for Poole to win yet another trophy."
