AFTER a poor start to the season Bournemouth men's first XI needed to win to remain within reach of the league leaders.
A tough and disciplined performance saw the Dorset side outplay Maidenhead and claim three vital points in South Premier League Division Two.
The home side recovered from a poor start as poor defending saw them fall behind after only three minutes.
But Bourne remained calm and confident with a belief that they would prevail.
The speed of Charlie Hayward and skill of Tim Stainer inspired the fightback with Hayward equalising after a clever interchange of passes.
The Dorset club should have gone in front after creating a string of chances but they had to settle for a 1-1 scoreline at the interval.
After more chances were squandered by Bourne, it came down to the experienced Martin Fripp to score the winning goal.
Maidenhead conceded a short corner and after the move broke down the ball found its way to Fripp six yards out. With defenders charging him down, he kept his composure and slotted the ball into the goal with precision.
Bournemouth followed up the win with a 4-0 win over Broxbourne at Chapel Gate in the third round of the HA Cup. Bourne were the better side on paper but didn't play like it until the second half.
Two goals from Richard Herring and one a piece from Tim Stainer and Charlie Hayward saw Dorset's premier side comfortably through to the fifth round.
They have been drawn away to national league side Southgate in the second round on Sunday, November 21.
Bournemouth: Camp, Gilbert, Stamper (capt), Fripp, Larcombe, Herring, Momo, Perkins, Dyason, Maw, Herring, Stainer, Hayward, Malebye (coach).
