WEYMOUTH have set their sights on Plymouth Argyle striker Stewart Yetton to pep up their goal-shy attack.

Terras chiefs have targeted the highly-rated teenager after he impressed during a short stay at the Wessex Stadium earlier this year.

Chief executive Martyn Harrison - whose side host lowly Sutton United in Nationwide South tomorrow - said he was 'hopeful' of securing Yetton's services on a initial loan deal.

But he ruled out signing the 19-year-old before tomorrow's Wessex Stadium clash when

strikers Lee Phillips and Chukki Eribenne hope to end a dismal goalscoring run.

Neither have netted for the Terras since September 15 when Eribenne scored at Weston-super-Mare, a run of 10 outings.

With top striker and former boss Steve Claridge now departed, Harrison admitted securing another striker is a top priority.

He told Echosport: "With Steve having gone, we're obviously a bit light in the striking department with just Lee Phillips and Chukki Eribenne.

"I think it's fair to say that neither of them are in the best of scoring form at the moment so we want to try and get someone else in.

"We're hopeful of bringing Stewart Yetton in from Plymouth because, by all accounts, he looked excellent when he was with the club back in January and I know Plymouth rate him quite highly.

"We've talked to Plymouth about the idea and they seem keen because it would give the lad first team competitive football on a regular basis.

"We're talking about a loan deal initially but it's unfortunately looking unlikely we'll be able to sort anything out in time for him to play against Sutton United.

"It was initially planned for Stewart to join us last week but Plymouth suffered injuries and he was on the bench for their game up at Sheffield United last weekend. That delayed things a while but, all being well, the deal will be back on after the weekend."

Despite all the recent upheaval, Weymouth host struggling Sutton on a league run of just one defeat in nine games.

The Terras have also secured three league shut-outs in a row - something caretaker coach Paul Buckle is keen to continue.

"Every good team bases themselves on a solid defence and the lads have done a great job in the last couple of games," he said.

"The work-rate up at Lewes the other night was extremely

good and that is something I want to see again tomorrow.

"I've said time after time before that this league is all about digging out results and it'll be no different against Sutton.

"Hopefully we'll get a good crowd who'll get behind us and we can reward them with a win.

"The support at Lewes and Welling last weekend was brilliant and it is something all the players

really appreciate."

Meanwhile, Harrison revealed candidates for the vacant head coach post would be whittled down after the weekend.

A new man throwing his name into the hat yesterday was former Southampton, Portsmouth and Dorchester Town defender Jon Gittens.

Harrison added that the club is planning to hold a combined annual general meeting and fans' forum in December.

He told Echosport: "A lot has gone on at the club in the last few months and I agree it's important everyone gets an opportunity to have their say.

"By their very nature, annual meetings are not always the best place to have a format allowing people to make general points or ask questions about the club in an adult way.

"What we're looking at doing is holding a combined annual general meeting and fans' forum, which is likely to be held sometime in early December.

"We obviously hope the new head coach will be appointed by then and that night will be the ideal time for everyone to meet him and hear what his views and plans are for the club."
