SEVERAL sheep died and others were injured when the trailer they were being transported in overturned on Wednesday.
Police and firefighters were called to the garage roundabout on the eastern approach to Bridport at lunchtime.
The road was closed while firefighters mopped up fuel and the sheep were treated.
The trailer was being pulled by a tractor when the accident happened.
A police spokesman said the accident caused a lot of distress to members of the public. An RSPCA vet was called in to tend the animals.
Police helped round up sheep which escaped in the accident and put them in a nearby field. The road was reopened at 3.30pm.
