STARS in the making celebrated victory in the final of the Dorset Echo-backed Search for a Star Competition.

Contestants performed in front of a sell-out audience at Weymouth's Prince Regent Hotel with more than 15 acts taking to the stage.

Judges picked Grace Housego, 21 from Wool, to win the adult section of the talent competition, after her stunning rendition of Cry me a River and Santa Baby.

The junior category, for competitors aged 15 to 17, was won by Dorchester brother and sister duo Bethany and Jack Ansell, aged 17 and 15. They performed a stripped-down version of Anastasia's Not that Kind.

The pair, who sang without backing track with Jack playing guitar, went on to cover Maroon 5's She Will Be Loved.

The runner-up in the adult category was boy band Southern Edge who were David Days, 23, Liam Deeney, 21 and Phil Sansom, 18. In the junior category the runner-up was Katherine Levi.

The winners of both categories were presented with trophies by Hollybush Hotel's chairman Martin Harrison Hotels and David Johnston from the Dorset Echo.
