THE misery is finally over. The contraflows which have blighted the lives of motorists on the A338 Spur Road have gone.
Commuters breathed a sigh of relief today as roadworks on the dual carriageway finished three weeks early.
But one of the four sliproads at the Blackwater Junction will remain closed until early December because work is continuing at Hurn Road.
Temporary traffic lights and speed restrictions will stay in place on Hurn Road until early next month while the final part of the project is finished.
The northbound sliproad leading off towards Hurn will stay shut until the work is done.
Dorset County Council's head of highways client services David Gibb said: "I'd like to remind drivers going through the Hurn Road works that they should slow right down and be patient. It's tight across the bridge and we've seen people jumping the red light, desperate to get through."
