CHRISTCHURCH striker Scott Joyce proved his point to boss Pete Moore as he netted twice in Priory's late goal rush at BAT.

Joyce had been unhappy with Moore after he was substituted in last week's Hampshire Senior Cup victory over Lymington Town.

But the frontman issued the perfect riposte as he netted a fine header and a spectacular scissors kick in the Hurn Bridge outfit's four-goal mauling of the Tobaccomen. And Moore was delighted to see his fiery striker put his frustrations to good use.

"Scott's had a torrid time of late but he scored two great goals today," he admitted. "It was the Scott Joyce of old. He was aggressive, full of running and I don't even mind he got himself booked as it shows his commitment.

"To be honest, we were up against it today with so many senior players missing and at half-time, I said to the lads I'd be happy to take a 1-0.

"But after the first goal, we destroyed them."

Priory did not open the scoring until 20 minutes from time but once they had broken the BAT backbone, the floodgates opened in bewildering fashion.

Joyce profited from the industry of Ben Griffiths and Steve Bernard down the right to head home the first and he was again on the end of a Bernard cross to brilliantly volley in the second.

The third came from a Tom Hughes challenge on the edge of his own box and he broke out of defence, fed Bentley on halfway and he showed strength and composure to hold off two challenges and round the goalkeeper to net.

And Rideout also showed coolness as he was presented with the chance for four, neatly lifting the ball over the advancing keeper to give the scoreline a thoroughly healthy look.
