Dorchester'S longest serving player Andy Harris gives his injured foot a test when the Magpies take on Wimborne Town in the Sammy McGowan Cup at the Avenue Stadium tonight (7.45pm)

Harris hasn't played since breaking a metatarsal bone at St Albans in September and had targeted a return to action for the Reserves at Sherborne in two weeks' time.

But Saturday's red card for central defender Alex Browne at Basingstoke injected more urgency into his comeback and although Mark Morris believes he could still use another experienced defender, Harris could ease his manager's problems by proving his fitness ahead of Saturday's Conference South game at home to Bishop's Stortford.

That is a game team skipper Browne will definitely miss for accumulating five bookings and that suspension is expected to be followed immediately by another of three games starting with the FA Trophy tie at Eastbourne.

"Andy has been out for around eight weeks, which is roughly what we expected," said Morris. "He has been doing some training and the time has come to try it out in a game."

Morris has handed control of the game to his second team boss Phil Simkin, but he will be in the stand to check on

several trialists, including Fleet Town's midfielder Gareth Keeping, Gillingham Town's Mark Harvey and a mystery Portuguese midfielder.

"He's a young lad who's a friend of Diogo Andrade," said Morris.

Morris also wants to check on the form of second team top scorer Aaron Lomax.

Dorchester: Myers, Wilson, Carter, Dovell, Llewelyn, Harris, Griffin, Legg, Keeping, Harvey, White, Lomax, Byerley, Borthwick, Symes.

* Bridport welcome back striker Andy Hitchcock and midfielder Gary McAuley after suspension for their tough Les Phillips Cup tie away to Trevor Senior's Bridgwater Town tonight (7.45pm).

"We have a small squad and when experienced players like Andy and Gary are missing it hits us hard," said boss Bob Russell whose side are going through a sticky spell.

Bridport: Peters, Copeland, Linney, Leach, O'Brien, Gawen, McAuley, Clark, Ritchie, Hitchcock, Austin, Taylor, Wise, A Cunningham.

* Terras boss Steve Johnson plans to field midfielder Simon Weatherstone in Weymouth Reserves' line-up to host Plymouth Argyle's second string at the Wessex Stadium tonight (7pm).

Weatherstone, 24, is currently available on a free transfer following last week's cash crisis at Conference South leaders Hornchurch.

Johnson also includes teenagers Chris Skinner and Richard Jackson is his squad.

* The Terras clash with the Pilgrims means round seven of the British MX Pro Mini Bikes Championship at the Wessex Stadium speedway circuit has been called off.

This will now be held tomorrow night with the action beginning at 7.30pm.
