HUNDREDS of sea anglers from all over the country will be converging on South Dorset at the weekend for Weymouth Angling Society's, Dorset Echo-sponsored Chesil Beach Open.
A first prize of £200 along with many other prizes is at stake in the competition, which is the area's last big open beach event of the season. There is also a prize for the junior angler with the best catch.
It will be fished from 11am until 5pm on the stretch of the Chesil Beach from
Cove House at Portland to the Boundary Stone. Entries will be taken at the Chesil Centre on the Portland Beach Road from 9.30am with anglers due to return for the weigh in no later than 5.45pm.
The competition will be fished to the National Federation of Sea Angling minimum fish sizes and only a maximum of 12 fish per species will be permitted.
As well as the prizes there will be an optional pool of £2, optional super pool of £2 and a £1 heaviest fish pool.
