SPEEDWAY officials have been accused of 'killing' the Conference League following their decision to introduce a new grading system for 2005.
Riders will now be judged on their age and experience rather than ability and previous averages.
Each rider has been given a grading between two and 11 with clubs allowed a maximum of 42 points based on those gradings.
The system will mean that every club must use two rookies (grade twos) and there will be a severe restriction on top grade riders at the veteran stage of their careers.
One side already affected by the change are Weymouth who had two grade 11
riders, David Mason and Gary Phelps, on their books.
