DORSET'S under-15 team have been crowned champions of the South West Counties League after finishing with two fine victories over Gloucester and Wiltshire.
The unbeaten aces have dominated their division having also chalked up wins over Avon, Cornwall, Devon and Somerset on their way to the title.
Against Wiltshire, the boys took five of the six singles but the girls found the competition stronger with a 3-3 record thanks to wins by top seed Jenny Sargent and at the bottom of the order from Rachel Richards and Abi Longhurst.
In the doubles, the boys again made their strength in depth count.
The three teams of Tom Mainsbridge-Tom Streets, Dominic Street-Steve Tollerfield and Andrew Tindall-Jason Wong each won two out of three matches while the girls achieved the same score-line with Jenny Sargent and Michaela Tranter undefeated.
With the match already won, Dorset cruised through the mixed doubles phase winning five of the six ties for a final 25-11 success.
Team manager Paul Taylor awarded the top player award to unbeaten Sargent.
Against Gloucester, the boys laid the foundation for a 27-9 victory.
Undefeated in the singles, they then took maximum points in the doubles to record 15 points for their team.
After a difficult time in the singles where they went down 2-4, the girls bounced back in the doubles.
Third seeds Potter, who took the top player award, and partner Ayres clashed rackets as they both went for the same shuttle in the first game of their tie, resulting in Ayres wrecking her racket and Potter breaking a finger - the youngster bravely fought on to take that match and then the mixed doubles with Tom Streets as Dorset notched a 27-9 win.
Playing in Exeter, Dorset's under-13 team maintained their unbeaten record with a fine 24-12 win over rivals Devon in the South West Counties Competition.
Under-19 star Mark James, sponsored by BWT Physiotherapists, has won his first senior title.
Playing with Graham Hurrell in the men's doubles in the Devon Satellite Tournament the pair reached the final without dropping a set and in the final disposed of Chris Shepherd and Chris Evans, 15-4, 15-9.
The event was a good warm up for the National Championships starting next weekend in Manchester.
Dorset is well represented in the championship.
County champion Nicky Cerfontyne will contest the ladies singles and the mixed doubles playing with Hurrell, and James links up with Tom Dudley in the men's doubles.
Mike Huxter will tackle the men's singles and Hurrell teams up with his long time doubles partner Peter Jeffrey from Essex in the men's doubles.
