COLLINS Obuya will be in for a culture shock when he makes his Premier Division debut for Weymouth tomorrow.

Having graced the world's top cricketing venues, the Kenya and ex-Warwickshire leg spinner begins his Seasiders career at the somewhat less prestigious Park Road.

"There's nothing wrong with Stalbridge's ground," said Weymouth captain Paul Payne, "but I'm sure it will be a bit of come down for Collins. It wouldn't matter where in Dorset he made his debut, nothing would compare with what he's used to.

"As an international and county cricketer he has played at all the world's top grounds and it's a long way in every sense from Lords to Park Road, Stalbridge.

"I'm sure he'll be okay with it all and I know he's looking forward to his first game as much as we're looking forward to him playing. He's a quality player who has played in a World Cup semi-final for his country and it's a major coup having him as our overseas star this summer."

Obuya missed out on his home debut in the victory over Parley last weekend because of delays with his visa paperwork. But they've all been sorted now and he'll arrive in England later tonight.

Payne added: "Sorting all the paperwork has been a struggle because of the amount of

different people you have to deal with.

There's embassy staff, agents and representatives from both the English and Kenyan

cricket boards and every phone call, e-mail and fax has to be duplicated about ten

times.

"On top of that things don't move very

quickly in Kenya and so it's all been very frustrating and time consuming."

But despite all the man hours, red tape and paperwork, Payne says he wouldn't have changed a thing.

"If you want quality," he added, "you have to work for it. It's taken a bit of time but the visas are now sorted, clearance has been given and Collins is booked on a flight from Nairobi.

"Beyond that, we can't do any more and so it's just a case of sitting tight, wait for him to arrive and then get on with playing cricket which is what it's all about."

Obuya takes the place of Chris Knight in the Seasiders line-up - the all-rounder having now returned to his teaching job in Switzerland.

Apart from that it's the same Weymouth side that collected 24 points from their five-run curtain-raising success.

Payne said: "I was delighted with the win last week and we'll be looking to kick on tomorrow. Stalbridge suffered a big loss themselves on Saturday but we're not silly enough to take anything for granted because they are a good side with some outstanding individuals."
