A LYME Regis couple who were victims of the devastating Tsunami that swept through Asia on Boxing Day have finally been laid to rest - four months after the disaster.
John and Mary Levett, who were both in their sixties, were remembered at a service at Slough Crematorium last week.
The couple, who formerly lived in Windsor, were holidaying on the idyllic resort of Khao Lak in Thailand when the tidal waves struck. It was several weeks before their bodies were recovered and DNA tests were used to identify them.
Mr Levett was a clarinettist with the popular Sunset Caf Stompers and was involved with the annual Lyme Regis jazz festival.
Mrs Levett was a member of the dramatic society and a jazz pianist who also played for the Jill Chase ballet school.
Among the mourners at the afternoon service were their beloved daughters Caroline and Joanne, who both work as hairdressers in Datchet.
Joanne's fiance Richard Micallef said the sisters were both understandably distraught after the funeral.
The couple were remembered at a special concert in their honour on April 3 in the Marine Theatre, in Lyme Regis. The Sunset Cafe Stompers performed at the memorial event which raised £1,000 for the Tsunami Appeal.
