ENGLISH Schools national multi-eventer, Serita Shone began her outdoor campaign at Millfield School in fine style.
Representing Weymouth St Paul's Harriers and AC in the Dorset County AA Combined Events Championship and the Dorchester Thomas Hardye School in the Dorset Schools Championship, she scored a near national standard with over 4,200 points to win the under-17 heptathlon with ease.
She began the first day's events with a time of 12.3 seconds in the 80m hurdles, fighting back in the last few strides to beat the best Somerset competitor.
Then she set an outdoor personal best in the high jump with a clearance of 1.57m; threw an enormous 10.57m in the shot put and clocked the fastest time of 27.2 seconds in the 200m.
The second day saw her perform consistently in the long jump with a best of 5.27m. Then modest performances of 24.51m in the javelin and 2:47.9 in the 800m warned fellow national standard competitors that she is likely to produce even higher points totals later in the season.
