YOU'VE heard of 101 Dalmatians - a local charity has seen an influx of Jack Russells.

Waggy Tails Rescue in Parkstone has ended up with nine of the feisty terriers in its care, all of whom are looking for new homes.

Amazingly, the group are not all from the same litter but coincidentally were handed in to Waggy Tails around the same time by different owners, says Shelagh Meredith, who runs the charity.

And their stories of why they ended up there are all very different.

Two-year-old Titch is deaf and must be re-homed with brother Smudge.

The pair, who are long-legged Jack Russells, were taken to Waggy Tails for rehoming after a family split.

Playful curly-coated Jack Russell Rosie has been rehomed twice but brought back for being too lively.

Two-year-old Missie was turned out of her home after her owners bought a new puppy while four-year-old Ricky's owner was unable to cope with the responsibility of looking after him.

Inseparable pair Jack Russell Duchess, four, and Yorkshire terrier Vernon have spent their whole lives together and hope to be rehomed together.

Shy, quiet Heather, nine, is be better suited to an older person.

Eight-year-olds Raggie and Cooper have also been together their whole lives and were handed in when their owner emigrated to Australia, says Shelagh.

She said: "They all came in to us over the last two months all from different places.

"They are super little dogs, great companions and very intelligent but they need activity."
