COURAGEOUS Neil Heritage is gearing up to take part in a sponsored walk organised to collect cash to by him a new pair of legs.
The event was arranged to raise money for the 24-year-old corporal after he lost both limbs in a suicide bombing in Iraq last November.
While he was in hospital, Neil's colleagues at London-based Explosive Ordnance Disposal set up the Neil Heritage Fund to pay for adaptations to his Hamworthy home and we backed that with our Let's Help Neil campaign.
We have already raised more than £19,000 towards our £30,000 target, which will pay for high-tech prosthetic limbs to replace the ones Neil received on the NHS.
Staff at Nuffield Tops Day Nursery, where Neil's partner Claire Renshaw works, joined in the fund-raising and organised the sponsored walk, which takes place on Sunday May 15, leaving Bournemouth Pier at 10am.
Registration takes place in Bournemouth gardens, under the flyover, from 9am on Sunday. Entry £1.
