Weymouth's reputation as one of the UK's best windsurfing locations was confirmed when one of the sport's biggest names turned up at Overcombe beach.
World champion Francisco Goya pitched up unannounced at Overcombe Corner, taking advantage of yesterday's ideal conditions to launch a new range of equipment.
Goya, 34, from Argentina, won the world title in 2000. Since his victory he has spent his time in Hawaii building up his own sail and board business.
He said he had been looking for a site in the UK to demonstrate his new range of equipment and plumped for Overcombe beach.
He added: "We had a look at the weather reports this week when deciding where to go, and Weymouth had the best conditions for windsurfing. It's been great, with people coming from all over the country.
"This is my first visit to Weymouth and I'm enjoying myself.
"The area is wonderful and we had breakfast on the beach this morning before going out on the water."
