FORMER Bridport schoolboy Bill Harvey has landed one of the hottest jobs in the British Army - as a warrant officer stationed in Kenya.
The married soldier is battling temperatures as high as 26 degrees Celsius in the shade as he serves with the Royal Logistic Corps at the British Army Training Unit near Nairobi.
Bill, 39, is responsible for supplying anything from a nut and a bolt to a truck wheel to keep the overseas force on the move.
He is also responsible for both military and local Kenyan civilian staff.
He said: "Kenya is absolutely brilliant. This has got to be one of the best jobs in the army provided you keep out of the midday sun.
"Seriously, it is a great place and the country has lots to offer.
"My son is at school here and is truly getting all the benefits and experience that comes from being in class with Kenyans, Italians, and Russians. It's an international education."
He added: "I enjoy golf and have taken part in a number of charity events.
"I've also done a mountain bike race for an animal sanctuary. We are also involved with projects like children's homes.
"The only downside here is the security we have against crime. It's a high priority.
"We have guards at our house and we need to take care when we go out and about, particularly after dark. But you have to weigh that up against the benefits of a beautiful country."
Bill attended Colfox School before joining the Army in 1984.
He is married to Sally and they have two children - Kerry, 22, and Joshua, 15. Joshua is sitting his GCSE exams in Kenya.
