THE Weymouth RNLI Ladies Guild ushered in the summer with their annual plant sale at Friar Waddon.

The sale and coffee morning attracted support from gardeners who enjoyed cake and coffee in the sun.

Browsers were able to pick up annuals, perennials, herbs and vegetables at the sale.

Chairman of the Ladies Guild Rosemarie Abbott said: "There were lots of RNLI supporters and we enjoyed a very successful raffle."

Prizes were donated by supporters of the charity and included hanging baskets, gardening books, sherry and of course a selection of plants.

Guild secretary Di Ludlow invited the guild to use her garden by Friar Waddon Farmhouse for the sale.

Heather Gardner, guild treasurer said: "We really must thank Di Ludlow for allowing the event to go ahead. It is a beautiful garden and the biggest event of our year."

Mrs Gardner is hoping funds raised by the event will meet last year's total of £2,000.
