FOLLOWING the international hits 8 Women and Swimming Pool, French director Francois Ozon's latest picture has been well received on its limited UK release.
We meet Gilles (Stephane Freiss) and Marion (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi) on the day they sign their divorce papers and, over the course of five sequences, are told the story of how they came to be at such a point.
There's the warm nostalgia of the happy early days of their relationship, through a time of mistrust and frustration to the torment of their marriage break-down.
It's a simple but effective method of representing modern relationships, posing more questions that it answers and probing the motivations of the two protagonists.
