Pymore double is quite enough

TOMMY TABBERER CUP final

Pymore 1 Ilminster Town Colts 3

PYMORE just missed out on a wonderful treble when they lost to Ilminster Town Colts in the Tommy Tabberer Cup final on Wednesday night.

Three goals early in the second half sunk the league champions leaving Alex Goodrick's strike as a mere consolation.

Pymore chief, Brian Tither, is not too disappointed though - he is still beaming after his team collected the Division Two title and John Fowler Cup last week.

Tither said: "We probably had the better of the first half.

"We created the chances during the game, it just didn't run for us on the night.

"Winning the league, winning one cup and runners-up in another I can have no complaints.

"I couldn't have asked for any more it's one of the best seasons we've ever had."

After complimenting his team's overall effort this year Pymore's boss saved an extra word for those players who have been on the fringes.

"The four or five fringe players that have come week in week out and have not got on have been brilliant.

"They've spent a lot of time on the bench but are great lads."

Tither has now convinced himself to continue in management for at least another year and is looking forward to more local clashes in Division One.

"I was talking about finishing but now we've got promotion I can't just walk away - I'll have to give it a go next season.

"We've got some interesting local games next year now with Drimpton, Lyme Reserves, Uplyme and White Horse.

"It should be a really good season."

Pymore lost their last league game of this term at the weekend to Wednesday's cup winners.

A double from Gary Bullman and one each from Matt Tither and Dean Obstancias were not enough to overcome five goals from the visitors.
