CARNIVAL organisers in Dorchester are hoping to create a real party atmosphere ahead of this year's grand parade.
Preparations are well under way for this year's carnival, which is due to take place on the evening of June 18.
But before the main procession there will be a street fair in South Street from 9am until 3pm and organisers - Dorchester Round Table - are keen to get people in the mood.
Mark Allwood, carnival chairman, said: "There will be a variety of stalls from local charities, and we are keen to create a party atmosphere by arranging a variety of street entertainment.
"We would like to issue an appeal to any jugglers, magicians, stilt walkers or other entertainers - amateur or professional - who can spare a few hours on the Saturday to help raise money for local charities and good causes."
He said there had been a good response so far from people wanting to take part in the parade but urged anyone thing about doing so to get in touch.
Last year there were a record 30 entries in the procession, who helped to raise more than £6,000 for good causes.
Mr Allwood said he hoped this year's theme - The World is a Stage - would give entrants plenty of scope to and entries are encouraged on any theme with a stage and screen theme.
The procession will begin at 6pm in the lower market car park and pass through Fairfield, Maumbury Road, Cornwall Road, High West Street, Church Street and South Walks, before returning to the market.
