WEYMOUTH and Portland mayor Lynne Herbert has welcomed a party of visitors from the resort's twin town of Louviers.
A special dinner was held for the visitors at the Portland Heights Hotel which was attended by more than 30 guests from Louviers.
Mrs Herbert said: "It was a very successful weekend and Louviers mayor Frank Martin was very impressed with our new sailing academy at Portland, particularly as he is a sailor himself.
"He said he hoped London won the bid to host the 2012 Olympics because he would then be able to enjoy seeing the sailing events at Portland."
The mayors exchanged gifts with Mr Martin receiving a print of Portland and Mrs Herbert receiving some wine.
