BIG-HEARTED Weymouth residents are to complete a 13-mile sponsored moonlight walk around the town.
Some 50 fundraisers will bare the cold to raise money for charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Organiser Janis Martin said she and her colleagues at Weymouth Land Registry and friends from her Slimming World group decided on the walk after failing to win places on a sponsored night marathon though London.
She said: "Having been unsuccessful in gaining places in the now famous Moonwalk, a group of us have organised our own walk to take place locally.
"Approximately 50 of us will be setting off at midnight on June 18 to do the half-marathon which we have named The Moonlight Promenade."
Mrs Martin added: "It's a real challenge. Not just doing the walk but getting everyone together and my colleague Anne Miller from the Land Registry has been heavily involved. We want to raise £1,000 plus. We've got three practice walks planned over the next few weeks."
The walk will begin and end at the Famous Old Spa pub in Dorchester Road and involve two circuits of Weymouth. It is expected to take about three-and-a-half hours to complete.
Mrs Martin said she did not need any more walkers but was keen for as many donations as possible.
