DORSET team manager Sean Walbridge has revealed that there may be a Minor Counties Twenty20 Cup next year.

The former Bournemouth spinner believes the ECB are looking at bringing in a competition in 2006 following the success of the shortened version of the game since it was introduced to professional cricket two summers ago.

Dorset will make their Twenty20 debut in a triangular round-robin friendly against Devon and Cornwall at Budleigh Salterton on Sunday, July 31.

Walbridge said: "There has been talk within the ECB that there maybe some form of a Twenty20 competition at Minor Counties level next year.

"It that is the case we are looking to have our friendly just to see how each county embraces Twenty20 and provide some feedback to the ECB.

"We're going to Budleigh Salterton at the end of July and it should be a fun day with some good cricket being played.

"We'll definitely be taking the day seriously and it will be good to see how each team approaches it.

"You can bet that Devon will treat it professionally, just like they do every game they play.

"Hopefully we will try and work out a plan before the day and see what happens.

"It is early days yet in our preparation. But one thing I will say is that Darren Cowley will be going a lot higher up the batting order!"
