MULTI-TALENTED Chris Campbell, 13, was crowned 'top boy' in his age group after scooping a gold and two silver medals at the Bracknell open meet in Aldershot's 50m pool.
The Bournemouth Dolphin also brought his tally of qualifying times for this summer's national age group championships to three as he powered to one gold and two silver medals and two fourth places.
The results were also a tribute to his versatility, as the results embraced three of the four strokes as well as all four in the individual medley.
It was the 200m medley that produced Campbell's gold medal as he clocked a national time of 2:10.68.
He was second in the 100m butterfly (1:06.02) and 200m freestyle in a best 2:10.68 and fourth in the 100m and 200m breaststroke, missing the national mark in the last of these by only a few 10ths of a second.
Dominic Macdonald, also 13, who'll be joining Campbell in Sheffield at the end of July, was also in fine form as he clocked a winning 58.26 to the 100m freestyle to his nationals programme.
He also took gold in the 200m freestyle in 2:09.17, within a second of the national time, and bronze in the 100m breaststroke in 1:19.09.
Nick Marsh, yet another of Dolphins' clutch of fine 13-year-olds, took bronze in both the 100m and 200m backstroke in 1:07.24 and 2:23.31.
Sabina Heywood arrived at Aldershot hotfoot from long course training at Bath University, where she had completed 12,000 metres the previous day.
But that demanding schedule failed to hamper her as she won the 14yrs 400m freestyle in a best 4:28.88, completing the second 200m a second faster that the first.
The time was 14 seconds inside the national standard and thrust her back into the British top 10 in her age group.
It also placed her second overall to Leatherhead's Katherine Wyld, 19, one of the top women in the country.
Heywood also recorded a fine 1:00.85 for second place in the 100m freestyle.
Claire Humphreys won gold the 200m medley (2:32.64) and silver in the 200m freestyle (2:14.90).
In the 13yrs age group, Kim Rowles swam well to collect bronze medals in the 400m freestyle in 4:50 and 200m medley in a best 2:38.43.
She and Bridie Shanahan-Smith were fourth and fifth respectively in the 100m freestyle in 1:05.05 and 1:05.84.
Ashleigh Osborne-Scott, 18, was a triple bronze-winner with third places in the 200m medley (2:36.6) and 100 and 200m breaststroke, both new events for her.
Seagulls had five swimmers at Bracknell, who later travelled to Southampton for a Minor League gala in the evening.
Their Bracknell times were: 18yrs Charlotte Roberts 200m medley 2:56.92, 200m free 2:32.13, 50m free 33.88. 16ys Ayshia Black 200m medley 2:51.91, 100m breast 1:30.81, 100m back 1:20.09, 50m free 32.10; Lucy Tomlinson 200m medley 2:47.53, 200m free 2:26.83, 100m back 1:24.82, 50m free 31.03; Liam Cosgrove 200m free 2:13.55, 100m back 1:07.24, 50m free 28.65. 14yrs Stacey Angliss 200m medley 2:52.07, 200m free 2:34.54, 50m free 31.47, 100m back 1:18.87.
Bournemouth Dolphins paid a heavy price for disqualifications in their Southern Junior League gala at Keynsham.
The squad scored 'nul points' no less than five times, mostly due to faulty relay takeovers, to snatch third place from the jaws of victory.
But there were also plenty of fine performances which gave Dolphins nine wins and and 10 second places.
Contributing to four of those wins was 10-year-old Oliver Maddock. He took the 50m backstroke in 42.16, the 25m butterfly in 18.78 and shared in freestyle relay successes with Joseph Foale-Groves, Mat Randle and Jack Thorpe in the 11yrs age group and with Darren Price, David Gallagher and Nick Hendy in the 10yrs.
Foale-Groves also won the 11yrs 50m breaststroke in 49.78.
Sisters Tyarni and Symmi Rolt produced a family double, Tyarni winning the 9yrs 25m back in 22.78, Symmi the 11yrs 50m free in a best 34.84.
Ashleigh Hill, who joined Dolphins earlier this year, swam exceptionally well to win the 10yrs 50m back in 42.28.
Result: Keynsham 154, Yeovil 152, Bournemouth Dolphins 146, Weston-super-Mare 143, Soundwell 122.
Six disqualifications wrecked any hopes Poole had of a decent result in their Southern Junior League gala at Bridport.
With only 10 points between second and last, the errors proved very costly.
There were some bright spots, however, not least Sam Adams' two wins in the 11/u 50m backstroke and freestyle (37.96 and 34.28).
Other winners included Kathleen Rafferty in the 9yrs 25m freestyle in 18.25, Phoebe Notley in the 10yrs 50m backstroke (44.30) and Rachel Bolden in the 11/u 50m breaststroke (44.95).
Lucinda Sandon-Allum, Rhaya Barton, Pippa Rodgers and Rachel Bolden snatched victory from Swindon by just 0.1sec in the 11/u 4x25m freestyle relay (1:07.56).
Result: Swindon Dolphins 162, Chard 111, West Dorset Warriors 106, Poole 101.
