ANGRY accountant Austin Kinsley's crusade to demolish Bournemouth's most unpopular building, the IMAX cinema, with the help of an explosive new TV show has moved a step closer.

Channel 4's forthcoming four-part series Demolition asked viewers to nominate the UK's most hated buildings, which would be added to a shortlist of potential targets. Later this year a panel of experts will decide which is the worst building and the aim is to reduce the winner to rubble.

The father-of-three, who has lived in Bournemouth all his life, nominated the IMAX, and Channel 4 researchers were so impressed with the three-minute video diary he submitted outlining why he hates the building they decided to add it to the list.

"I spoke to the researchers this week and they said my tape was one of the most impressive entries they have had in the show," he said.

"I don't know whether they would be able to raze it to the ground if the judges voted for it, but miracles can happen if enough people want it."

Television cameras will arrive in Bournemouth next week where the programme will interview Mr Kinsley and other locals, including councillors and the editor of the Daily Echo, to gauge local opinion about the eyesore.
