THIRTY residents met at Holly Court with local councillors, neighbourhood police officers, Fire Officers and guest speaker, Peter Mankin, chair Weymouth and Portland Partnership.

Issues such as litter, alcohol and drug abuse, economic and social problems resulting from low wages and expensive housing all featured in the discussion that Peter co-ordinated throughout his talk.
He listed daunting challenges such as insufficient opportunities for young people, the perceived “shabbiness” of the town and esplanade and discussed people’s vision for five years hence.
For those wishing for more details, Mr Mankin referred to the Partnership’s website.

After a brief discussion, three issues were agreed to be addressed by next meeting: - Reporting of blocked drains for action, drug and alcohol offences, anti-social behaviour and the continuing litter problems (including dog mess).
